Ned Kelly 2015 shortlists announced

photo-10The shortlists for the 2015 Ned Kelly Awards for crime writing have been announced by The Australian Crime Writers Association (ACWA). There are some great reads on the lists, including Sweet One by Peter Docker. I was privileged to be at the launch of Peter’s book when he resided in Broome. Good luck to all the finalists. Winners will be announced on 22 August 2015.

The shortlisted works in each category are:

Best novel

  • Sweet One (Peter Docker, Fremantle Press)
  • Eden (Candice Fox, Bantam)
  • A Murder Unmentioned (Sulari Gentill, Pantera)
  • Crucifixion Creek (Barry Maitland, Text)
  • Gun Street Girl (Adrian McKinty, Serpent’s Tail)
  • Present Darkness (Malla Nunn, Xoum)

 

Best first novel

  • King of the Road (Nigel Bartlett, Vintage)
  • What Came Before (Anna George, Viking)
  • Chasing the Ace (Nicholas J Johnson, S&S)
  • Quota (Jock Serong, Text)

 

Best true crime

  • The Fall (Amy Dale, Ebury)
  • This House of Grief: The Story of a Murder Trial (Helen Garner, Text)
  • The Family Court Murders (Debi Marshall, Ebury)
  • He Who Must Be Obeid (Kate McClymont and Linton Besser, Vintage)
  • The Murder of Allison Baden-Clay (David Murray, Ebury)
  • The Feel-Good Hit of the Year (Liam Pieper, Hamish Hamilton)
