Done With Men by Shuchi Kalra Singh

done-with-men1Done With Men is a fun-filled Indian romantic comedy/romance that’s an easy read and one which I can see heading to the big screen one day. Think Bridget Jones’s Diary, only set on the beach in Goa.

Quite apt that the book was released on Valentine’s Day 2014 (apologies this is an old review only just moved to this new site). It has all the ingredients of a great love story: a clumsy, unlucky-in-love travel journalist with an inclination to say and do stupid things; a good doctor; and a cast of friends and family who only have her best interests at heart.

Although the desi words threw me now and then, Shuchi Singh Kalra’s story is universal. The debut work by this Indiread’s author is full of wit and humour, and I think she has a great future ahead.

Make sure you take a look at the book trailers floating around that I think were created by the author herself. They are probably amongst the best I have seen.

I would recommend Done With Men to those who like reading chick lit/romance, especially if you haven’t read any South Asian romance before. This is a great place to start.

My rating: ★★★1/2
